Dido and Aeneas
A love story doomed by divine fate...
Following the frothy extravaganza that was Cinderella, Opera Warwick decided to take a darker, more philosophical approach with its next production.
Taking on Purcell's baroque masterpiece, the society injected visceral modern choreography and minimalist staging, striking an epic, eternal note. The production acted as a vehichle for asking the big questions of human nature; who we are, why we're here, and ultimately, the extent to which our destinies are shaped by fate.
This tale of Dido and Aeneas' deadly romance was put on in the Summer of 2013, in the intimate setting of the Helen Martin Studio at Warwick Arts Centre.
