'Opera Warwick presents its most ambitious production so far.'

Set in modern day Seville, our production of Carmen was brilliantly colourful, dynamic and relevant, reflecting the vibrancy of Bizet's celebrated score, conducted by Benjamin Hamilton. With a large orchestra and the venue of Warwick Arts Centre's central theatre, we were able to produce a show which perfectly matched the scale of this infamous opera.

Carmen also saw the return of Warwick's own Lorna James, who sang the title brilliantly, opposite Robyn Lyn Evan's Done José. The drama between these two professional singers was amazing to watch and to work with, making OpWa's contribution to the University of Warwick's 50th anniversary arts a particularly impressive spectacle. The production was even nominated for Best Society Event at the Socs Awards 2015.
