CALLING ALL SINGERS…
Be a part of Opera Warwick’s January 2012 production in Warwick Arts Centre Main Theatre of Hansel & Gretel: the classic fairytale with a dark and gritty twist.

The cast will be working with a brand-new modernised English translation of the classic original, accompanied by the rich orchestration of Humperdinck’s innovative and exciting score. With a creative group of writers, instrumentalists, and singers, it’ll be a challenging yet hugely rewarding experience all round – so be a part of the fairytale!

Auditions

Don’t pannic! Auditions are quite short and definitely not scary. They start with a quick warm-up/range exercise on your favourite vowel followed by singing the prepared piece. Given the proximity to the start of term – and so that auditionees feel vocally most confident – that the first audition can be completed using any piece (in any language, but preferably in English if you have one). Thereafter, the MD and/or director will work on the piece with you to see how you respond to direction.

Callbacks (Saturday afternoon/evening Week 1) will then be conducted using music from the show. There will be an opportunity to properly prepare with the MD or a pianist before hand.

The audition process is designed to be as relaxing and open to all as possible. If you would like help preparing the music in advance please email su301@warwicksu.com and we’ll help.
