About

Opera Warwick is the University of Warwick opera society.

Aims and Objectives
  • To give members, current and potential, the opportunity to be involved in both staged and concert performances of opera.
  • To promote the wider knowledge of opera, styles and background, as well as performance techniques.
  • This shall include: talks by experts, discount group trips to see performances, video evenings and masterclasses as well as staged performances.

Opera Warwick provides opportunities for all opera enthusiasts associated with the University of Warwick to indulge in their passion for the medium, and for those who have little experience to find out more and learn to love it! The society has a varied repertoire, encompassing Handel, Verdi and Gilbert & Sullivan, and has enjoyed success with its performances of The Marriage of Figaro, Orpheus in the Underworld,Trial by Jury and many operatic concerts. We aim to perform two full-scale productions and one smaller production per year in various venues on campus and in the surrounding area.

The society aims to give singers, instrumentalists, directors and those with a more technical bent the opportunity to indulge their passion for operatic productions. Solo roles are always auditioned, but there is often an unauditioned chorus, so don’t be scared to come and get involved! We are also planning exciting new workshops, giving the all members an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of opera performance.

You do not have to be a performer to be an active member!

Regular trips are organised to hear operatic productions at various venues around the county, and the society has an active social life. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the executive committee.
